As FDI into the Arab World continues to increase, navigating the region’s political risks can be daunting. Regional data has been historically hard to come by. This challenge is compounded by the range of economic and political diversity in the region—from resource-rich countries to fragile states, from open to closed governance systems. A recent MIGA publication fills this information gap by providing a concise snapshot of the Arab World’s risk landscape. A main finding emphasizes that individual assessments of countries, sectors, and projects are key to successfully measuring political risks in the region. The article also juxtaposes real vs. perceived risks.
