While political risk is a top concern for corporate foreign investors, the allure of business prospects in the developing world means that these markets are likely to continue to attract a growing share of global foreign direct investment (FDI). A new MIGA report, World Investment and Political Risk 2009, finds that political risk is perceived to be a key obstacle among global investors who have continued to grow their emerging markets activities even in the wake of the financial crisis.  The report also underscores the usefulness of political risk mitigation tools for these emerging market investors and the increasing importance of South-based project sponsors.
